It’s been exciting to fold and assemble the first 60 copies of the most ambitious RML production to date. The Migrators (2020) by Crista Dahl, with book design by Victoria Lum and Lois Klassen, is comprised of multiple pieces that involved 5 separate printers. There is a spectacular two-sided off-set printed poster (20×36″) that by Metropolitan Fine Printers. The poster is folded like a map and a set of 15 two-sided laminated playing cards (3×5″) that were printed in black and white by Linx Print, are tucked into the folds. The pages of the book (4.25x5x.25″; 84 pages) were printed and bound at Copies Smart. A tipped-in Mylar page was printed in Victoria Lum’s studio. The dust jacket was printed by on a risograph machine at Moniker Press. All of these fine suppliers are located on Coast Salish Territory in Vancouver, Canada.
In the LFP studio, these pieces are trimmed, folded, glued, tipped-in and finally packaged into a clear cellophane pouch. This assembly will continue well into 2021.
